WelcomeMulticultural Australia

The Welcome initiatives were a series of ventures by Multicultural Australia to provide social and economic support for refugees, migrants and asylum seekers.

With a vision to create welcome, inclusion and belonging for all new Australians, the initiatives helped build flourishing, culturally rich communities.

Welcome Sports was a unique not-for-profit sporting hub – dedicated to giving all members of the community, including refugees, international students, people seeking asylum, and migrants the opportunity to get involved, get active and get connected.

A joint initiative of the El Salvador Soccer Club and Multicultural Australia, a range of sport and recreation programs, activities and events were provided for Brisbane’s diverse communities.

The Welcome Sports logo abstracts the letter ‘W’ to suggest balls or players in motion. In different applications (ie. animations) the symbolism of the mark is illustrated explicitly.

Inkahoots also conceived a range of messaging including the strapline Join in. Play on. Belong. to reinforce the initiative’s goal of building an active and welcoming community through sport.

Welcome Residential was a not-for-profit real estate service supporting refugees and affordable housing. The social enterprise reinvested all profits back into improving the supply of affordable housing throughout Queensland.

Welcome Residential’s visual identity was designed to connect with, and motivate, two different audiences. The primary audience of landlords, small investors etc needed assurance of reliability and professionalism, while a message of warmth and welcoming was required for tenants, philanthropists, and other supporters.
