Memefest

Memefest, the ‘International Festival of Radical Communication’, is a global network engaged in the transformation of social relations through radical design, focusing on the decolonisation of knowledge and the public sphere, and social and environmental change.

The 2007 festival theme was ecology and the relationship between humans and nature “in a world of media spectacle, advertising cool, cynicism and design fetishism”. Our poster layers symbols reinforcing the idea of human/ecological interdependance.

The festival theme for 2011 was ‘Love/Conflict/Imagaination’. Found and manipulated typography with contrasting images suggest personal and social narratives. Photos are from the archive of our friend and the festival’s founder, Oliver Vodeb.
