We’d just like to thank everybody around the world for their messages of concern and support.
The floods have effected much of Brisbane and the State. We have been very fortunate and escaped relatively un-scathed, but many have lost their homes. And those that already had no home are doing it even tougher on the street. Some have tragically lost friends and family.
There’s a tremendous sense of community solidarity however, with everyone now pitching in amongst the stinking mud.
Many Brisbanites grew up with the mythology of the terrible 1974 floods, and those that weren’t there would wonder at the footage and photos of submerged familiar places. It’s as if these stories have suddenly come to life.
